I’m MJ…
This is me with my daughter in front of one of the trees in our grove in Walpole, Western Australia. My husband and I bought the property in 2018, after spending 6 busy years in New York. The moment we set foot on the farm we knew it was a perfect fit- the air was cool and clear, the olives were plump and healthy and most importantly, my little Aussie girl could run around, climb a tree, play in the mud and just be outdoors.
Our farm and olives…
Our farm is situated on the border of the majestic Mount Frankland National Park in the Great Southern Region of WA. Established in 2001, our grove has three varieties of olives used for processing: Nevadillo Blanco, Frantoio and Minerva.
What we strive to do…
Goodbye single use….
We provide our customers with a gorgeous glass bottle that will become an object that is a staple in your everyday cooking rituals and table settings. We have taken a lot of care to curate a bottle and stopper that is resilient and reusable. We do not want our bottles to become another single use item that ends up in landfill. We encourage you to reuse your bottle and to refill your bottle with our Olja Collective bulk oil.
Hello responsible practices…
We regard ourselves as simply keepers of the land and that it is our responsibility to take care of the earth in which our trees grow so that many generations after us may still reap the rewards from the same soil, water and air. We are putting measures in place to provide adequate care for our farm and produce responsible products that will have the least impact on the surrounding environment. These include:
Our grove is not irrigated
Only rainwater is used in the production of our olive oil
We rotate a small flock of sheep between our groves as natural weeders and fertilisers
Our product packaging is reusable and we discourage single use
Every online shipment to our customers is offset through programs by our carbon-neutral shipping partner
